    Book

Book a Tesla car wash with the model, year, seat color, address or garage, and photos of stains or spots.

  2. 02

    Access

Leave a key card or meet the crew; a building garage needs the building's OK.

  3. 03

    Arrival

The car in shade or under cover, Car Wash Mode on, charging paused if it is plugged in.

  4. 04

    Exterior

pH-neutral shampoo, top down, separate tools for the wheels, camera lenses by hand, the glass roof and glass dried by hand, with our own water.

  5. 05

    Water

LADWP requires a self-closing shut-off nozzle and no runoff onto streets, driveways or gutters (LADWP), and the City's storm-drain exemption covers only non-commercial washing by residents or non-profits (LAMC 64.70.03). Our method: a water-capture mat under the car and our own water, never your hose, wherever the car is parked, the street included.

Tesla car wash and detailing FAQ

How much does a Tesla detail cost in Los Angeles?

For a Model 3 and a Model Y: a maintenance wash and detail is $119 / $149, an interior detail $189 / $219, a full detail $249 / $279, and a premium detail $449 / $479. Model X and Cybertruck use the large column. Seat condition, pet hair, sap or ash move the price; there are no discounts. All prices: car detailing cost in Los Angeles.

Where can I get my Tesla washed in Los Angeles, and can it go through a car wash?

Tesla's manual allows touchless automatic washes only, with Car Wash Mode on, and none at all for a Cybertruck; the other option is a hand wash. We bring a Tesla-method hand wash to wherever it is parked, home, office, garage or street, on a water-capture mat, so no runoff reaches the street drain. For other makes, see mobile car wash.

How much does it cost to ceramic coat a Tesla Model Y or Model 3?

A Model 3 is $999 and a Model Y $1,029, in two visits wherever the car is parked, with the decontamination wash, a one-step machine polish and XPEL FUSION PLUS CLASSIC included. Heavier swirls take the two-step correction + coating package, from $2,049 on a Model Y. Glass coating goes on the side and rear windows only, and a coating eases washing but doesn't stop chips; film does.

How much does Tesla charge to fix scratches, and can you buff them out?

Tesla doesn't post a scratch-repair price list: body and cosmetic work goes through a Tesla Collision Center or a Tesla-approved body shop, which quotes after inspection (Tesla). Our scratch removal is from $199 per panel, with the paint gauged first; a Cybertruck scratch is a Tesla refinishing job. Which scratches polish out and which need a body shop: can a Tesla scratch be buffed out.

Can you clean white Tesla seats without damaging them?

Yes, the way Tesla specifies: microfiber, warm water and mild soap, and diluted isopropyl alcohol only as Tesla's last resort, after a hidden test spot and with you told first. Clothing dye we can't lift safely we leave, and we say so. An interior detail for a Model Y is $219. Doing it yourself: how to clean a Tesla interior.

Do I need to be home for a mobile Tesla wash?

No, if you leave a key card: the crew turns on Car Wash Mode and pauses charging. Apartment and office garages work where the building allows it. Every job runs on a water-capture mat with our own water, the price is set before we start, and if anything isn't right, tell us within 48 hours and we come back and fix it at no charge.

Can you remove the haze on the inside of my Tesla windshield?

We clean all the inside glass we can reach, with a clean microfiber and no alcohol wipes: Tesla warns that unapproved alcohol wipes may damage the windshield's hydrophobic coating. The haze directly in front of the forward camera is different: Tesla's own procedure removes the camera covers, mirror and glare shield, then resets the cameras in Service Mode. That part is a Tesla service appointment, and we don't take camera parts off.

Do you detail Rivian, Lucid and other EVs?

Yes, with the same method: the maker's own cleaning rules first, as with a Tesla. Every EV is priced by size like any car: a Rivian R1S sits in the Truck / van / 3-row SUV column on car detailing prices, and any other EV goes in the column its size matches. What Rivian's and Lucid's manuals say next to Tesla's: Tesla, Rivian and Lucid side by side.

More about Tesla Detailing

What's different about washing and detailing a Tesla

Tesla publishes its own care rules. We built our Tesla car wash and Tesla detailing around them, and the table shows each rule, its source and what our crew does.

Tesla's washing rules, and what our crew does

Rules quoted from Tesla's Model Y Owner's Manual (Cleaning) and Tesla's Cybertruck Exterior Cleaning page
Tesla's ruleSourceWhat our crew does
Automatic washes: "touchless car washes only"; for Cybertruck, Tesla does not recommend automatic washes at allModel Y manual; CybertruckA hand wash with no tunnel brushes, on a water-capture mat with our own water, and clean mitts and towels for every car
A pressure washer at least 12 inches (30 cm) from the surface, the nozzle kept movingModel Y manual; CybertruckA low-pressure rinse only where it is needed, never aimed at cameras, seals or film edges
Nothing above pH 13, no acidic products, no "highly alkaline or caustic" cleaners; "Damage or discoloration resulting from cleaning products is not covered by the warranty"Model Y manual; CybertruckA pH-neutral shampoo, and no degreaser or wheel acid on trim, lights or camera lenses. Dish soap? We don't use it.
No cutting pastes, color restoration compounds or harsh-abrasive polishesModel Y manualNo polish in a wash; correction only as a separate booking, with the paint gauged first
Do not wash in direct sunlightCybertruck; Model Y manualShade, a garage level or an early slot
Remove droppings, tree resin, insects, tar and fallout immediatelyModel Y manual; CybertruckSpot-cleaned at every visit, which is why a mobile car wash subscription works
Keep exterior cameras free of dirt and obstructionsCybertruckEvery lens wiped by hand

Washing it yourself? Our Tesla and EV care guide walks through it step by step.

Car Wash Mode, cameras and charging: what our crew does

Car Wash Mode shuts the windows, locks the charge port and turns off the wipers, Sentry Mode and walk-away locking; what it does, and what Tesla warns can happen without it, is in can you take a Tesla through a car wash. We turn it on at arrival and off at hand-over, so the wipers stay off on wet glass and the doors don't lock while a crew member has one open, and we pause charging if the car is plugged in. Every camera lens is wiped by hand. Free Roll, which Tesla describes for automatic washes, isn't needed for a hand wash.

Tesla interior cleaning: vegan leather, white seats and the screen

Tesla interior cleaning: what we do, surface by surface
SurfaceWhat we do
Vegan-leather seatsMicrofiber, warm water and mild soap on every seat, wiped dry; no conditioner or protectant
White seatsDiluted isopropyl alcohol only as Tesla's last resort, on white seats only, on a hidden test spot first and with you told beforehand. Denim dye we can't lift safely we leave, and we say so.
TouchscreenA display cloth only, with Screen Clean Mode on
Seat beltsWater only, no detergent, dried extended
Carpets and matsExtraction on the mats; low-moisture on fixed carpet

Our method follows Tesla's Cybertruck interior cleaning page and the Model Y and Model 3 manuals. Cleaning a Tesla interior yourself: how to clean a Tesla interior. Pet hair and odor are add-ons: pet hair removal.

Glass roof, windows and the haze inside the windshield

  • Glass roof: water spots show plainly on a glass roof, and LADWP rates its water hard (below), so we bring our own water and dry all glass by hand on every visit.
  • Glass: automotive glass cleaner; nothing abrasive and no scraping on glass or mirrors.
  • Glass coating, side and rear windows only: Tesla says to apply a hydrophobic window coating "only to the side and rear windows, not the front windshield", because it "may affect the visibility of the Self-Driving cameras". Our glass coating ($279) never goes on a Tesla windshield.
  • Haze behind the camera: Tesla's own procedure for haze in front of the forward camera removes the camera covers, rear-view mirror and glare shield, warns that unapproved alcohol wipes "may damage the hydrophobic coating on the windshield", and ends with a camera reset in Service Mode (Model Y service manual). We clean all the inside glass we can reach, with no alcohol wipes on the windshield; the area under the camera housing is a Tesla service appointment, and we don't remove camera parts.

Tesla paint, chips and what the warranty leaves to you

Is Tesla paint soft? We found no paint-thickness figure published by Tesla, so "soft" is a detailer's impression, not a spec; what is known is in do Teslas scratch easily. Tesla's current New Vehicle Limited Warranty excludes damage from "exposure to sunlight, airborne chemicals, tree sap, animal or insect droppings, road debris (including stone chips), industry fallout", and lists "paint and glass stone chips" as normal wear (Tesla NVLW). So chips and wash swirls are the owner's to prevent: we hand-wash Tesla's way and gauge the paint before any polishing, scratch removal is from $199 per panel, and a full front of film is from $2,299 on a Model 3 (Tesla PPF).

Cybertruck

Tesla says "Cybertruck does not have a clear coat", so scratches are in the stainless steel itself and follow Tesla's own refinishing procedure. Orange or brown iron spots can appear, but "your Cybertruck is not rusting"; Tesla doesn't recommend automatic washes for it and allows a "non-ionic pH-neutral waterless wash". We hand-wash it, lift iron spots with a stainless-safe remover and never polish the steel; stainless scratch repair is Tesla's. Film for a Cybertruck is on Tesla PPF.

What LA does to a Tesla

  • Hard water: LADWP's 2022 averages were 8.6 grains per gallon in the San Fernando Valley and western LA, 9.8 in Silver Lake, Downtown and South LA and 16.3 in eastern LA and the Harbor; above 7 is hard, and LADWP names spots on automobile finishes (LADWP). Dry every time.
  • Sun: Tesla says not to wash in direct sunlight, so we book shade, garages and early slots, wherever the car is parked.
  • Jacaranda season: the sticky film is aphid honeydew, not nectar (LAPL); Tesla says to remove tree resin and droppings immediately, and its warranty excludes damage from them.
  • Fire season: LA County Public Health says to rinse loose ash with a gentle spray, then wash with a mild detergent, and "Avoid scrubbing dry ash, as it can scratch paint"; it also says "Do not start, move, tow, or charge a fire-damaged electric or hybrid vehicle" (Public Health). We don't work on a fire-damaged EV.
