What changes the price:

  • Size: vehicle size and rows of seats.
  • Condition: heavy soil or beach sand adds the heavy-soil add-on, $59; stains that need extraction move the job to the deep interior.
  • Pet hair and odor: priced as add-ons (sections below).
  • Delicate materials: Alcantara and white or perforated leather take longer.

Pet hair removal from car seats and carpets

Pet hair removal pulls embedded dog and cat hair out of carpet, seat fabric and the cargo area, where a household vacuum only skims the surface. We loosen it with rubber pet-hair tools and stiff brushes, then vacuum it out. It is an add-on to any interior package, from $69; heavy shedding is quoted from a photo.

Pet hair removal $69 (sedan), $79 (SUV), $89 (3-row SUV, van, truck); heavy shedding is quoted from photos.

Doing it yourself between visits: what removes pet hair from each surface.

Dog hair everywhere? Book the deep interior with pet hair removal, and send a photo of the cargo area for the quote. Accidents and wet-dog smell are odor jobs: see car odor removal.

Hair is not allergen. We vacuum and extract, but we don't promise an allergen-free car: does vacuuming or steaming remove pet dander?

Between visits, a seat cover or a cargo hammock keeps most of the hair off the fabric.

Car odor removal: smoke, pets, mildew and spills

Car odor removal starts at the source: smoke residue in the headliner and seat foam, pet urine in the carpet pad, mildew from a leak, or a spill under a seat. We clean and extract that source first, then treat the air in the closed, empty car. Odor treatment from $99; smoke odor removal from $399.

Odor treatment (add-on, after cleaning) $99; smoke odor removal $399 (sedan), $429 (SUV), $449 (3-row SUV, van, truck); vomit, urine and mold are quoted from photos.

Tobacco smokeHeadliner, seat foam, carpet, vents, cabin filterThe smoke odor removal package: deep interior, headliner and vents, then the Koch-Chemie KC-Refresher fog; ozone only as a last step for heavy smoke (box below)We aim for a large reduction in smell; a smoke-free car is not guaranteed. In 127 used cars, the owners' "commonly used cleaning and ventilation methods did not successfully decrease" nicotine contamination (Fortmann et al., 2010), and the Thirdhand Smoke Resource Center calls embedded residue "virtually impossible to remove" (TSRC)

Wildfire smokeFabric and the cabin filterDeep interior and odor treatmentCleaning the fabric does most of the work

The odor treatment we use. The source first: enzymes on urine, vomit and milk, then extraction. Then Koch-Chemie KC-Refresher: a device makes a fine hot mist that Koch-Chemie says wafts through the interior and into the ventilation and the A/C evaporator, in about 20 minutes, with no ozone. The cleaning does the work; the treatment finishes it. What car dealers use on smoke is the same idea: extraction, then a treatment in the empty car, done carefully.

Visible mold on seats and trim

Mold you can see on seat fabric, carpet or trim means water has been sitting in the car. The leak, the drying and the pad are in the "Mildew, musty" row above; visible growth is quoted from photos, and this is what we do about it:

  • Remove the growth, don't just kill it. EPA: "it is not enough to simply kill the mold, it must also be removed" (EPA). Hard trim is cleaned by hand; seat fabric and carpet are extracted.
  • Material it has grown through may need replacing, and we say so from the photos.

The do-it-yourself steps, with EPA's protective gear: how to get mold out of a car.

What's included in an interior detail

  1. 01

    Quote from photos

Book an interior detail with one photo of the seats and one of the floor. Pet hair, a smell or stains? Say so: it changes the price, not the answer.

  2. 02

    Walk-round with you

We point out stains we may not fully lift (ink, dye transfer, bleach marks) before we start, and bag loose items.

  3. 03

    Dry work first

Vents, seams and seat rails brushed and air-purged, then a vacuum from top to bottom. After an ash day, no air-purge (see the LA table below).

  4. 04

    Hard surfaces

Dash, console, door panels and cup holders cleaned with brushes, steam where the material allows, and microfiber; plastics finished with a UV protectant.

  5. 05

    Fabric (deep interior)

Stains pre-treated, then seats, carpets and mats extracted with Koch-Chemie Pol Star, which leaves no water marks. The extractor pulls the water back out.

  6. 06

    Leather and delicate trim

By material, as in the table below.

  7. 07

    Glass and screens last

So no overspray lands on clean glass.

  8. 08

    Dry and hand over

Windows cracked or the AC running while the fabric dries, then a walk-round of the car with you.

Wash-level interior. The maintenance visit on mobile car wash vacuums and wipes the cabin while the outside is washed: it keeps a clean interior clean. Crumbs in the seams, stains, pet hair or a smell are interior-detail work.

Leather gets a wipe in the interior detail; deep conditioning is its own service: car detailing for leather seats. Seats or carpet alone: mobile car shampoo.

A musty-smelling A/C is odor work, not part of a package: the Koch-Chemie KC-Refresher fog is the odor treatment add-on.

How we detail your interior at your address, step by step

Wastewater. In the City of LA, LAMC 64.70.02 B.1 bars untreated wastewater "from steam cleaning, mobile carpet cleaning, or from other such mobile commercial or industrial operations" from the storm drain system (LAMC). Our extraction water stays in the machine's tank and leaves with the crew. To keep the cabin that way between details, book a regular visit: mobile car wash subscription.

Steam cleaning, sanitizing and delicate materials

Leather, including perforated seatsGYEON Q²M LeatherCleaner, a soft brush, minimal moistureDetails on car detailing for leather seats
Alcantara and suede-like trimA dry brush and a barely damp cloth; never steamAlcantara's own care page: "we don't recommend using steam machines", and don't wet it excessively (Alcantara)
Touchscreens, gloss-black trimA display cloth only; no glass cleaner or alcoholTesla's interior-cleaning guidance: no glass cleaner or alcohol-based gel on the touchscreen, and solvents, alcohol, bleach, citrus, naphtha or silicone products "can cause damage" to interior parts (Tesla)

Steam-cleaned, not "sanitized". We use the word "sanitized" only where a registered product is applied per its label, and we quote no germ-kill percentages. Why: does steam cleaning sanitize a car interior?

Interior detailing FAQ

How much does interior car detailing cost in Los Angeles?

An interior detail is $189 for a sedan, $219 for an SUV and $239 for a truck, van or 3-row SUV; the deep interior, with seats, carpets and mats extracted, is $229 for a sedan. Pet hair and odor are add-ons. The price buys hours of hand work, the right method for each material and the job done where the car is parked, and you see it before you book.

Where can I get my car's interior cleaned in Los Angeles?

Where the car already is: your driveway, your office lot, your building's garage or the street where you park, across LA County outside the Antelope Valley, plus Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. We bring water and power. An interior job needs room to open every door fully, shade or a garage on hot days, and time for extracted fabric to dry. A building garage suits it well: you can be at your desk.

How long does a mobile interior detail take, and when can I drive the car?

Plan on a few hours: about two to three for an interior detail on a sedan and three to four for a deep interior, longer for 3-row vehicles, heavy pet hair or smoke. After extraction the fabric is damp, not soaked, and with the windows cracked or the AC running it is usually dry enough to sit on within a few hours. An odor treatment adds airing time before we hand the car back.

Do you charge more for pet hair, and can you get dog hair out of the carpet?

Yes: pet hair removal is an add-on, $69 for a sedan, because embedded hair takes time; heavy shedding is quoted from a photo of the cargo area. Rubber tools and repeated vacuuming get most of it, and we tell you first if a few hairs woven deep into the carpet may stay. Removing hair does not make a car allergen-free, and we don't promise one.

How much does odor removal cost, and how do you treat a smoke smell?

Odor treatment is $99 after cleaning; smoke odor removal, with the deep interior, headliner and vents, is $399 for a sedan. We clean the source first, then fog the cabin and A/C with Koch-Chemie KC-Refresher, about 20 minutes, no ozone. For heavy smoke, ozone may finish the job in the closed, empty car, aired before we hand it back. We aim for a large reduction; a smoke-free car is not guaranteed.

Can you clean up vomit, spilled milk or a mildew smell?

Yes, quoted from photos. Spills are extracted and treated with an enzyme cleaner. Vomit is cleaned with gloves and an EPA-registered disinfectant used per its label, the option CDC lists besides a bleach solution; we don't put bleach on upholstery (how to remove vomit from a car seat). A mildew smell means water got in: we dry and extract, the leak needs a mechanic, and a moldy carpet pad may need replacing (EPA).

Is interior detailing safe for leather, Alcantara and luxury or exotic interiors?

Yes, when each material gets its own method. Leather is wiped in the interior detail, and cleaned with GYEON LeatherCleaner and conditioned in the deep interior. Alcantara gets a dry brush and a barely damp cloth, never steam, as Alcantara itself advises. Screens and gloss trim get a display cloth, no glass cleaner or alcohol, per Tesla's guidance. For deep conditioning, see car detailing for leather seats.

Do you steam clean or sanitize the interior?

We steam hard surfaces, vents, cup holders and seat rails, and extract fabric with hot water; Alcantara and screens are never steamed. We call a surface "sanitized" only where a registered product is applied per its label, and quote no germ-kill percentages; what steam does to germs is in our guide, does steam cleaning sanitize a car interior?
